IGF Steering Committee

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr. Bitange Ndemo, EBS,  convened  and appointed the Kenya Internet Governance Steering committee in July 2010.
The committee  has been mandated to  coordinate Kenya's contribution to the  internet governance processes and is currently in charge of planning and organizing for the 2011 global IGF scheduled to take place in Nairobi September 27-30, 2011.

For Immediate Release

Forum to discuss how and by whom the Internet is governed to be held in Nairobi, September 27-30 2011.

Nairobi, Kenya will host to the sixth annual Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF) set for the 27th - 30th September 2011 at the United Nations offices in Gigiri. Over 1,500 stakeholders from several countries around the world are expected to be at the forum, including Vint Cerf, one of the fathers of the Internet among others.

The Internet has more than 1.5 billion users worldwide and it is the most important infrastructure in the information age. It influences economics, cultures and politics at local and global levels. Internet issues like e-commerce, new market opportunities, intellectual property rights, security and stability, freedom of expression, privacy, and security, cybercrime, network neutrality, the digital divide, infrastructure development, among others make their way into national and international policy and regulatory agendas.
